Abstract

The author has observed the pharmacological effectof 2.4.5 Trichlorophenoxyethylene Pyridinium Bromide on experimental animals and the following result was obtained
1. The Genaral toxic effects
No significant effec was noted with subcutaneous injection or oral administration of small amount of TCPB to the mouse. The respiratory movement was slightly accelerated with 100mg/kg, and dyspnea was followed by convulsion and death with more than 100mg/kg. LD_(50) of TCPB through the oral and subcutaneous rout was 157.5mg/kg and 150mg/kg, respectively.
2. The effects on intetine
On the observation of the intestinal preparation of the rabbit, the peristaltic movement was slightly accelerated and the amplitude was increased with low concentration, but the tonicity was decreased. With high concentration, The tonicity was in itially increased and later stopped in relaxation.
3. The effects on uterus.
There was no significant effects on the uterus preparation of the rabbit with low concentration, but with high concentration the action was at first decreased with contraction and later gradually relaxed and stopped.
4. The effects on heart.
The amplitude of the heart preparation of the frog was increased with low concentration, but with high concentration the heart was stopped at systolic phase.
5. The effects on blood vessel
The blood vessel of the ear of rabbit was seen slightly dilated with low concentration and with high concentration it was constricted.
6. The effects on blood pressure.
The blood pressure of cat and rabbit was decreased with 0.5mg/kg of TCPB, and it was markedly decreased with 1mg/kg.
7. The effects on respiration
There was no significant changes in the repiration with intravenous injections of 0.25mg/kg and 0.5mg/kg of TCPB. With intravenous injection of 2.5mg/kg the respiration was increased while blood Pressure was decreased and coincident with recovery of the blood pressure the respiration was returned to normal.
8. The vermicide action
The vermicide action to the earthworm was not significant with 10^(-3) concentration.
