Abstract


This paper described the rate of degradation of excessively iodinated denatured albumin in vivo and participation of liver in the degradation by isolated liver perfusion, and also was concerned with the effect of blockade of reticuloendothelial system(by chinese ink)on the rate.
Serum albumin iodinated by 70 atoms of iodine per molecule of albumin became quite unstable in vivo, and more than 9o% of initial, injectedamount(6㎎.) disappeared from circulating blood within 6 hours. In R. E. S. - blocked rabbit, the rate was somewhat delayed but not remarkably.
In perfused liver of normal rabbit, the disappearance of iodine denatured albumin in perfusate was about 26% of that observed in vivo an about 50% of it was destructed and liberated as free iodine into perfusate for 6 hours. In perfused liver of R. E. S.- block rabbit, the disappearance and liberation of free iodine were also delayed as compared with normal, but liver perfusion studies on the plasma and liver protein synthesis of each rabbit revealed that the synthetic function of liver parenchymal cell was also significantly damaged by the treatment with chinese ink.
The above result clearly demonstrated that liver participates partially in the degradation of iodine denatured albumin, and the degradation occurs in the parenchymal cell.
