Abstract


For the purpose of determining the mycological observation and distribution ,of 1~Iicrosporum gypseum and it´s perfect form in soil, from May, 1968 to April, 1969, each month by the Vanbreuseghem modified method, horse, cow znd human hairs were used as baiting materials.
The hair samples were placed in stable, cow-shed and flower garden to collect M. gypseum and it´s perfect form.
The following results were obtained:
1) Among b5; baiting hairs, 396 strains (45.7 o) of M. gypseum and 2C8 strains (23.90 of it´s perfect form were isolated.
2) Amount isolated of both strains was higher in cow and horse hairs than human hair.
3) Isolation rate of M. gypseum was 54.1 from pen and 25.5~o from flower garden. Perfect form was 37.4 o from pen and 2.1 from flower garden.
4) Amount isolated with human hair was higher when soil temperature is above 20C. and poorer below 19C. while animal hairs were well isolated e~-en at lower Lampe..*atures.
5) Isolation rate was two times higher when the soil temperature is above 2C`C. than lower temperature.
6) Perfect form was mycologicaiiy similar to Nannizzia incuravata, however, Bpi: al hyphae had no more than 5 turns.
7) Colony of perfect form was cultured simi-early to M. gypseum ~m Sabouraud´s media but capsules of m~cr~conidia had abundant warty
granules and showed many microconidia.
8) M. gypsum revealed no pathogenecity in rabbits anti guinea pigs while perfect `orm showed marked pathogenecity particularly in guinea pigs.
9) Inoculated lesion with perfect form showed typical shape of favus scutula and the lesion healed spontaneously within 3 to 4 weeks.
