Abstract


Study on the Frequency of Health Education in the National Textbooks of Primary School
School of Public Health, Seoul National University (Directed by Ass. Prof. Hyung Jong Park, M.D.)
This study was carried out toward 78 textbooks of the elementary school which were edited in 1966 for the purpose of finding out the status of health education in the national textbooks of the elementary school.
The following results were obtained:
1) In the frequency of health unit in textbook by subject, Public Health ranked highest with and the lowest was Musics with 0.0%. Average of health unit was 12.3%
2) In the frequency of health unit in textbooks by school year, the 5th grade represented 15.5% or highest and 2nd grad represented 5.2% or lowest.
3) In the frequency of health items in textbooks by school year, 5th grade was 35.9%, 4th 25.6%, 6th 21.4%, 3ed 8%, 2nd 4.9% and 1st was 4.0%
4) In the frequency of health items in textbooks by subject, Public Health was 46.%, Natural science 18.9%, Korean language 7.4%, Social science 12.4%, Industry 8.9%, Morality 5.9%, Mathmatics 2.3%, Arts 0.4% and Musics was 0.2%.
5) In the frequency of health items, Nutrition and Foods were 23.3%, Exercise & rest 16.6%, Disease & Care 11.3%, Environmented health 10.7%, Physiology & Anatomy 10.6%, Communicable disease control 6.5%, Personal health care 5.5%, Social health & Organization 4.3%, General health living 1.8%, Accident 1.2%, Harmful substances 0.2%, and Eugenics & Heredity were 0.0%.
