Abstract

A study was carried out on the relationship between 431 incidences of carbon monoxide poisoning from January 1, 1966 to March 31, 1969 in Seoul and meteorological factors such as atmospheric temperature, atmospheric pressure, wind velocity, cloud, humidity and precipitation.
The results obtained are as follows:
1) The causes of incidences of carbon monoxide poisoning show 51.6 per cent of ondol floor leakage, 35.9 per cent through the door and 6.7 per cent of the stove in the room.
2) December is the highest incidence-occurred month of carbon monxide poisoning with 84(24.7%) out of 339 and 280 (82.7%) occur from September to January.
3) More incidences occur during the period with higher atmospheric temperature, higher humidity, more cloudy sky and lower wind velocity than the weekly average values.
4) No significant differences is found between the higher and lower atmospheric pressure.
5) The rate of incidences is higher during the period with precipitation then without precipitation.
