Abstract


The status of visits and deliveries on 1218 expectant mothers who registered at prenatal clinic, maternal and child health center, Chonnam University Hospital, during Jan. 1958 to Dec. 1965 has been studied, and the following, result were obtaind:
1. The majority of prenatal clinic visitors are women educated over primary garde, and the majority of hospital deliveries were performed in highter a educated group of women. Although in relationship between early visits and educational grade, no difference can observed. The less educated women tend to fail to continue to attend the clinic.
2. Both in clinic visits and hospital deiverise the higher group of husband´s occupations are white collar workers.
3. The largest aged group of visitors were 25 to 29.
4. Less experienced pregnant. women like to visit the clinic but para 2,5 and over 9 are the groups most eager to receive prenatal care. The majority of pregnant women visit the clinic at the latter part of pregnancy, (9th. or 10th, month of pregnancy) but those who visited for the first time at 7 months of pregnancy better than any other month.
5. 42.6% of the total visitors have been delivered at the hospital. Hospital deliveries are related with the number of clinic visits and the cases of primipara and para over 10 make the most use of the hospital deivery room.
