Abstract


The growth of ovarian follicle is affected by endocrinologic regulation by Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Ovarian axis and intrafollicular endocrinologic environment. 26 treatment cycles were studied in 24 patients who were treated by Kyung Hee in vitor
fertilization program and HMG/hCG or FSH/HMG/hCG were used for ovarian stimulation. Twelve cases who achieved fertilization and pregnancy were fallen into group I and 14 cases who had not fertilized were fallen into group II. Among the apsirated
follicles, the 53 follicular fluids in group I and 61 follicular fluids in group II were included in this study and the others were excluded due to possible contamination by flushing medium. In present study, author measured the concentrations of
estrogen, progesterone, FSH, LH, β-endorphin, β-hCG, prolactin, androstenedione by radioimmunoassay in follicular fluid obtained from undergoing ovum aspiration from January 1990 to June 1990.
@ES The results obtained in this study were summarized as follows:
@EN 1. The number of aspirated ova were 3.3±2.8/cases in group I and 2.9±2.4 cases in group II.
In group I, mature oocytes were 33 and immature oocytes were 7 and in group II, mature oocytes were 19 and immature oocytes were 21.
2. On the day of hCG injection, serum estradiol level was 2207.6±1238.2 pg/ml in group I and 1735.4±1419.5pg/ml in group II.
3. As a whole, intrafollicular estradiol level was higher in pregnant group than in notfertilized group(P<0.05), and the follicles containing mature oocytes had higher estradiol level than the. Follicles containing immaure oocytes(P<0.05).
4. Intrafollicular progesterone level was higher in not-fertilized group and in the follicles containing immature oocytes but there was no statistical difference and intrafollicular prolactin level was also higher in not-fertilized group
(P<0.05)
and
immature follicles.
5. In general, intrafollicular LH, β-hCG and androstenedione levels were higher in pregnant group (P<0.05), but the relations betwen the hormonal level and maturity of oocyte was not existed.
6. As the follicular volume increases, intrafollicular progesterone level was also increased (P<0.05), but other hormones did not show relationship between follicular size and their level.
