Abstract

We measured serum levels of CA 125 in patients with common uterine tumors(115 of adenomyosis, 292 of leiomyoma uteri, 66 of adenomyosis accompanying with leiomyoma uteri) to differentiate pre-operatively between leiomyoma uteri and adenomyosis
and
to
evaluation of relationship between clinical symptoms of adenomyosis and CA 125.
@ES The following results were obtained.
@EN 1. The mean CA 125 levels were 24.71 U/ml in normal healthy women, 66.71 U/ml in patients with adenomyosis, 15.41 U/ml in those with leiomyomata uteri, and 46.62 U/ml for adenomyosis with leiomyoma group respectively.
2. Positive rates for CA 125, when the reference value were set at 35 U/ml, were 44.3% for adenomyosis, 7.9% for leiomyomata uteri, and 23.2% for adenomyosis with leiomyoma group.
3. Serum CA 125 levels in patients with adenomyosis were less relative between amount of menstrual flow and uterine weight.
4. Serum CA 125 levels in patients with adenomyosis were gradually increased by the degree of dysmenorrhea and endometrial invasiveness.
5. Serum CA 125 levels in patients with adenomyosis were gradually decreased after hysterectomy.
