Abstract
A case of hemorrhagic thrombocythemia was reported ina 47 year-old woman. Diagnosis of chronic granulocytic leukemia was make two & a half yeare prior to the recurrent episodes of severe intestinal bleeding.
The patient had splenomegaly, marked thrombocytosis(over 2 million) and megakaryochtic proliferation in the bone marrow. There was a correlation between the high level of platelets and the bleeding episodes. No abnormality was noted in bleeding, coagulation and prothrombin time even during the episodes of bleeding.
The case was discussed in relation to the new concept of the myeloproliferative disorders.
