Abstract
This is a case of the laryageal fibroxanthoma which is very rare benign laryngeal neoplasm, characterized by the deposit of lipids in the form of yellowish-brown plaques or nodules on the external and internal surface of the body.
Patient, 18-year-old Korean school-boy, was admitted with marked inspiratory dyspnea and hoarseness. Indirect laryngoscopic examination revealed a thumb-head sized, dark red colored mass on the right wall of the subglottic space which almost closed the subglottic space. This tumor mass, which was diagnosed as "beniga fibroma" was removed by procedure of laryngofissure under the local anesthesia following preliminary tracheotomy. The final diagnosis was a fibroxanthoma of the larynx.
The patient¢¥s postoperative course was uneventful ani the voice became almost normal state. We couldn¢¥t see the evidence of recurrence until two months after the surgery.
