Abstract

The position of the vocal cord in recurrent nerve paralysis has been¢¥ discussed for a long time by many authors.
The Semon-Rosenbach¢¥s law of the vocal cord paralysis does not give a law which can be generally applied to all cases of recurrent nerve paralysis since Wagner-Grossman¢¥s theory has been introduced.
A clinical observation was made on 60 vocal cord paralyses experienced during the period of January 1963 through December 1967 and following results were obtained:
1. Therewere 54 males (90%) and 6 females (10%), 9 times more frequent in male than female.
2. Age distribution showed :predilection for 5th and 6th decades with 18 cases (30%).
3. The left side of vocal cord was most frequent site in 32 cases (53.3%).
4. Most of cases (55%) had visited within 2 months after onset of symptoms.
5. Neoplastic origin was most frequently occured in 24 cases (40%).
6. The position of the vocal cord paralysis showed median or paramedian in 41 cases (68.3%).
