Abstract
The culture on Ogawa media for Mycobacterium tuberculosis with the sputum specir.~ens from 5, 581 cases of In-patient and Out-patient at our university hospital from January ? 97~ to Ociober 1975.
The positivities of the cultures are evaluated by means of the year, age and sex, month; In-patient and Out-patient end comparison of positivities between the direct smear and culture.
The positivities of cultures are 22.9x. 13.6 ~, 23.0 0, 16.2 o and 21.5 o in 1971, 1372, 1973, 1974 and 1975 respectively and the average positivity is 19.1 0 There seemed to be no remarkable decrease by year. The positivities by age and sex are high at 31-40 years age group in man, and 21-30 and 31-40 years age groups in woman.
The positivities by sex are 14.8 o in .man and 4.3 v in woman. The positivities are high at spring season throughout the past five years and as high as 22.7io in In-patient and 1;x.3o in Out-patr,ent.
There was a remarkable difference between the di?-ect srnear and culture, which reveied as high as six times to the former.
