Abstract

The author studied the subcellular changes of the rabbit hepatocytes induced by carbon monoxide poisoning. Four animals were exposured to 0.2% CO gas for 2 hours: And additional fous animals were Exposured 0.2% CO gas for 4 bours.
The results obtained were summarized as follow:
Mitochondria showed marked degenerative changes characterized by fragmentation, decreased number and partial disruption of cristae. Ribouomes were dctached out from membrane of endoplasmic reticulum, degenerated, and decreased in number. Smooth surfaced endoplasmic reticulum was moderately proliferated.
