Abstract
The author evaluated tze effect of Cyclocytidine hydrochloride on peripheral blood cells as well as marro~.v cells by ~bsFrving for 26 days in the rats in;ected with the drug intraperitoneally.
There were aiterions of hemoglobin, reticulocyu: count, absolute neutrophil count, absolute lymphocyte count ant ~:atelet count in the rats being administered the drug at a dose of 15mg per kg corresponding to the therapeutic dose for humans for 5 days. No significant differences were noted in rlegak~_ryocyte count, nucleated. red ceIl count, absolute myeloid cell count, absolute lymphocyte count ar.d erythrocyte ~~Fe incorporation rate as compared with those of the control group.
In the rats given the drug at a dose of 150 mg per kg for 5 days, only the megakaryocyte count was found to be significantly decreased. Otherwise no abnormalities were seen.
The rats being given the drug at a dose of 3, 200 mg per kg corresponding to LD/50 dose for 5 days showed a marl:;dly decreased hemoglobin, significant reduction of various peripheral components, drastic decrease of erythrocyte ~~Fe incorporation as well as various myeloid cellular elements.
