Abstract
A total of 814 residents were examined between April to October, 1977 using the Paragonirnus intradermal test in four different localities in Chilgok county, Kyungpook Province, Korea. The areas have been known as the foci of F~aragonimiasis since Miyairi(1917).
The average prevalence of Paragonimus westermasai in the four villages remained remarkably constant; the average was 4.0 per cent in 1924(Ichinomiya) and 6.4 per cent in 1977.
No significant differences were noted in the sex and age specific rates of infection between 192~i and 1977.
Because of the scanty density of Semisulcospira snails and crayfish in the streams and failure: of the demonstration of Paragonimus larvae from the hosts, it is obvious that -the four localities in Chilgok county, where Ichinomiya(1924) studied, were no longer the endemic foci of Paragonimus westermani.
