Abstract

This study was attempted to observe the microscopic & macroscopic changes of rats organs exposed to 1% co Gas and to measure the macroscopic changes, the organ-body weight ratio was calculated. The author intended to aseess the changes of organ-body weight ratio as one of the macroscopic index in the pathological studies of carbon monxide poisoning. Three experimental groups were consisted of Controlgroup, Fatal poisoning group and 1-Hour poisoning group.
Following findings were observed.
1. In acute carbon monoxide poisoning, parhological changes in every organ tissue were markedly, except adrenal gland. The microscopic findings of every organ tissue were commonly congestion, hemorrhage, tissue degeneration and necrosis.
2. The immature rat group in fatal poisoning showed marked increase in organ-body weight ratio compared with themature group.
3. Every organ increased in weight after fatal acute co poisoning, except adrenal gland. Among the organs, changes in Liver and Kidney were prominent.
4. Congestion, Hemorrhage and Tissue degeneration in organ tissue after co expouee were proved to be main effects for the increase of organ-body weight ratio increased.
5. As the time of co poisoning prolonged,. The organ-body weight ratio increased in each organ, except in Heart and Adrenal Gland.
