Abstract
Prevalence of rubella immunity among Korean population was assayed by means of hemagglutination-inhibition test. The investigation using sera collected in Seoul, Pusan, Chollapuk-do in 1972 was done to age groups by sex and by area. The results obtained are as follows;
1. Over-all immunity, 62.5% and immunity of possible child bearing age (15-49 year of age), 74.6% were lower than in most European countries and America.
2. The age group 25-29 gave higher positive rate (80.0%) than other age groups, especially the 0-4 age group (37.5%).
3. Urban and rural area peoples do not seem to have differences in terms of their positiveness and titers, viz. positive rate of urban 65.6% (Seoul 69.4%, Pusan 62.1%), and rural 64.6% (P£¾0.9); geometric mean titer of urban 10.3 (Seoul 10.8, Pusan 10.1), rural 9.4.
4. No difference was noted in H-I positive rate and titer between the males and females, viz. positive rate of male 65.3%, and female 64.2% (P£¾0.9); geometric mean titer of male 9.8 and female 10.2.
5. Among the positives, those with the titer of 1:10-1:40 occupoed the largest proportion while the proportion of the titer 1:320-1:640 occupied least.
