Abstract


A Study has been carried out to find out the effects of intelligence and aptitude over academic and postgraduate achievements of the nursing students, and 303 students who are newly admitted during the period from 1966 to 1969 were selected for this study.
The effects of intelligence and aptitude over the achievements in basic education, professional education, clinical practice and postgraduate work have been studied by computing Pearsons correlation coefficiency, and the results obtained were as following;
1. No relationship between the intelligence and the achievement in basic education was observed.
2. There was a significant relationship between the intelligence and the achievement in professional education.
3. There was a significant relationship between the intelligence and the achievement in clinical practice.
4. No relationship between the intelligence and the postgraduate achievement was observed.
5. No relationship between the aptitude and the achievement in basic education was observed.
6. There was a singnificant relationship between the aptitude and the achievement in professional education.
7. There was a significant relationship between the aptitude and the achievement in clinical practice.
8. There was a significant relationship between the aptitude and the postgraduate achievement.
9. No relationship between the basic education and the post graduate achievement was observed.
10. There was a significant relationship between the professional education and the postgraduate achievement.
11. There was a significant relationship between the clinical practice and the postgraduate achievement.
