Abstract


The result of the public health statistical study after consideration and analysis are as follows;
1) The maximum number of dogs were found in Seoul city with a canine population of 391, 645, minimum number of canine population were found in Cheju with a canine population of 13,289.
2) The regression equation computed by 1953∼1972 statistics concerning canine population is ??.
3) With an annual average of 37.3 rabid dogs, the total number of rabid dogs were 746. Outside of large metropolitan areas, or rural locations, Kyongnam reported the maximum nurber of rabid dogs which is in contrast to pusan which reported no rabid dogs during 1953 thru 1972.
4) The incidence rate regression equation of the annual number of rabid dogs is ??, rabid dogs decreased annually.
5) The statistics shows as the canine population increases annually, the number of rabid dogs decreased. There is no pure correlation between the number of dogs and number of dogs and number of rabid dogs.
6) Total number of canine rabies vaccination was 4,720,548. The annual average of canine rabies vaccination was 236,072,4 with an annual vaccination rate of 33.3%. The vaccination rate varies annually, however, the maximum rate reported was in 1957 at 4.3% with a maximum vaccination rate reported in 1966 at 65.0%. 7) The Statistics shows by contrast that the number of canine rabies vaccination dose not correlate with the number of actual rabies occurrence.
8) In Korea, there were 11 animal health centers with 8 branches, however, this was insufficient in the prevention of livestocks epidemic diseases and zoonoseses.
9) In 1972, the total number of veterinarians were 2,503, Kyonggi had the maximum number of veterinarians with pusan having the minimum number.
10) The distribution about professional field of veterinarians were as follows;
1) Clinician(35.9%)
2) Administrator(21.3%)
3) Epidemic prevention commissioner(12.1%)
4) Educator(8.9%)
5) Researcher(6.9%)
6) Others(14.9%)
11) The regression equation about annual number of veterinarians was ?? (1963~1972).
12) Average number of dogs per 1 veterinarian was 434.6, and there was pure correlation between average number of dogs per 1 veterinarian and incidence rate of rabid dogs.
