Abstract
The diabetogenic effects of pregnancy are demonstrated by both clinical and laboratory evidence, and this impaired glucose tolerance is associated with increasing incidence of excessively large <~infants.
Therefore, we carried -out intravenous glucose tolerance test on 57 randomly selected women who delivered large infant (over 4. 0 kg) for observation of relationship betweenn abnormal glucose tolerance and large infants.
Blood sugar values were determined by the Folin-WA method, and intepreted by calculation of the K-value.
The results revealed tl_aw normal K-value was 60%, questionable 32% and abnormal 8%.
