Abstract

The most annoying problem in the repair of a wide cleft palate is the frequently encountere3 fistular formation. In order to obviate complications resulting from excessive tension on repaired line.
The authors have attempted the closure with an newly modified procedure with very favorable results.
The procedure is the modification of the method originally described by VEAL and TRAUNER, instead of approximating two arte_ial flaps directly in the midline,
The authors closed the defect with the both flaps in sigmoid fashion so that the distal flaps are overlapped one another on the area with the maximum tension at the junction of the hard and the soft palate.
