Abstract
Titrated extract of centella asiatica(Madecassol) was reported to accelerate wound healing with minimal scarring. In vitro studies showed that madecassol suppressed fibroblastic proliferation. In an experimental study, reduction of portal tract fibrosis was noted in the livers of mice infestated with bilharziasis and Crated with madecassol.
The authors had an analysis of early effect of madecassol to hepatic necrosis -of mice prepared with thioacethamide.
The electonmicroscopic findings are increased glycogen, RER(Rough endoplasmic reticulum), SER(Smooth endoplasmic reticulum) and ribosome in the cytoplasm(Group of injection of madecassol). After madecassol therapy, the liver cell necrosis was minimal comparing to thioacetamide group.
