Abstract


A sixteen years old female with complaints of a pea-sised neck mass, palpitation and loss of weigh twas subjected to the thyroid function studies with radioactive iodine (l-131) .
Scintigram showed a normal left lobe together with a walnut-siged functioning thyroid nodule located in the cranio-medial portion of the neck, which by means of TSH loading test. turned out being an activated pyramidal lobe. The pathogenesis and clinical signficance of the pyramidal lobes were discussed.
