Abstract

This paper, describes the studies of serum bilirubin cholesterol, alkaline phosphatase activity, cholinesterase activity, total protein, thymol turbidity test and bromsulfalein excretion in the normal state and after the ligation of common bile duct in 15 Monogolian experimental dogs, and check the amount of bile flow obtained from hepatic fistula.
The results obtained were summarized as follows:
1. The normal values of various tests were that :
Total cholesterol 168±56.7 mg./dl.
Total bilirubin 0.2±0.13 mg./dl.
Alkaline phosphatase activity 4.1±3.47 Shnowara--Jones-Reinhart unit
Cholinesterase activity 12.3±2.51 mg. (acetylcholine)
Serum protein 7.0±0.71 g./dt
A/G ratio. 1.2±0.29
Thymol turbidity test 0.8±0.17 Maclagan unit
2. The total amount of bile flow obtained from hepatic fistula was 73-128 ml. Per day and 7-11 ml./kg. body weight.
3. The injected B.S. p. dye was disappeared from blood stream completly within 1 hour in normal state, but the dye, injected at 2 hours followingthe ligation of the common bile duct, was retained in blood for sevear hours without signficant loss.
4. The changes of serum values of various test following the ligation of the common bile duct were stated below :
1) The total bilirubin and cholesterol in serumare significantly elevated after 24 hours of ligation, and also revealed that the bilirubin ofserum, under this circumstances, was mainlyof the prompt reacting type.
2) The alkaline phosphatase activity In serum was gradually increased from immediately after ligation. But cholinesterase activity was appearently within normal limit and tend to decrease after 24 hours of ligation.
3) The serum Protein, A/G ratio and thymolturbidity test were remained within normal limit after 48 hours of the ligation.
