Abstract


Sixty nine stains of gonococci and the 1167 strains of various kinds of organisms were isolated from urines of 927 Korean soldiers during the period from July 1963 to Jung 1964 and were studied for their statud of mixed infections and relationship between the isolation of organisms and clinical symptoms. The sensitivity test of all strains isolated and some biological characters of STaphylococci were studied.
1) The organisms were isolated from 927 cases with the following percentages: N. gonorrhoeae 7.4%, coagulase positive staphylococcus 27.0% coagulase negative staphylococcus 37.4% Gram negative bacillus28.9% Micrococcus tetragena 14. 6%, Gram positive coccus 8.2%, sporeforming and nonsporeforming Gram positive bacillus 3.2% respectively, streptococcus 1.4%, Mimae polymorpha and p. aeruginosa 0.8% respectively, N herrelleae 0.3%
2) 267 of 927 cases studied showed mixed infections with various organisms. 79.7% of gonorrheae had concomitnat organisms. 21.7% of gonorrheae had a concomitant staphylococcus.
3) The result rate of resistant organisms were as follows; penicillin 72.3%, achromycin 61.9% aureomycin 58.0%, streptomycin 52.2%, chloromycetin 52.0% terramycin 47.0%, erythromycin 24.9%, albamycin 15.0% jabantcub 13.0%, and neomycin 8.9%.
4) The result rate of the resistant N. gonorrhoeae showed the following percentages; terramycin 76.9% streptomycin 73.3%, chloromycetin 68.1%, aureomycin 59.4%, erythromycin 40.6%, kanamycin 37.7%, neomycin and albamycin 36.2% respectively and achromycin 30.4% and penicillin was the lowest with the rate of 17.4%.
5) The result rates of resistant coagulase positive and negative staphylococcus show almost the same, showing lower resistance in albamycin, kanamycin and neomycin. The penicillin was resistant with the highest rate than other.
6) No Trichomonas was observed.
