Abstract

Thyroglossal duct cysts and fistulas arise from epithelial vestiges that are sometimes present during the descent of the thyroid gland. They are not. uncommon and usually occur during the first decade of life. Diagnosis is relatively easy and complete surgical excision is the choice of treatment.
Recently the author experienced two cases of thyroglossal duct cysts, which were treated by Sistrunk¢¥s procedure.
