Abstract


Introduction
The author has made the study on the contact point force of teeth in korean. Contact points have very important functions such as the prevention of the periodontal disease, food impaction and proximal dental caries, etc., by means of :ideal distribution of masticatory forces to all teeth through the complicate and delicate movements of the teeth.
Therefore, this study is very significant in periodontology, orthodontics, operative dentistry, prosthodontics and other general practical dentistry.
Materials and Method
For this study, 162 korean males and 125 females who have had healthy alveolus and normal occlusion were selected.
Contact point forces were measured by using of the Automatic Spring Scale, Nanasi manufactured company, made in U.S.A. and Johnson´s Dental Floss, New Brunswick, N. J. Stock No. 6520-7822624, U.S.A.
The contact point forces were measured upon the following items, such as the space between both central inisors, between central and lateral incisors, between lateral incisor and canine, between canine and first premolar, between first and second premolars, between second premolar and first molar, and between first and second molars.
Conclusion
The conclusion were drawn as follows:
1) The contact point forces between the both central incisors:
Upper in males: maximum to minimum : 652±141~198±99 gram
Lower in males: maximum to minimum : 709±172~170±54 gram
Upper in females: maximum to minimum : 567±134~199±61 gram
Lower in females: maximum to minimum : 624±143~255±88 gram
The contact point forces were the strongest in twenties of ages and the next, thirties, fourties, fifties and sixties of ages in orders.
2) The contact point forces between the central and lateral incisors:
Upper right in males: maximum to minimum : 397±129~142±92 gram
Upper left in males: maximum to minimum : 369±181~113±71 gram
Lower right in males: maximum to minimum : 425±191~113±94 gram
Lower left in males: maximum to minimum : 425±170~85±60 gram
Upper right in females: maximum to minimum : 340±140~113±64 gram
Upper left in females: maximum to minimum : 397±102~85±48 gram
Lower right in females: maximum to minimum : 350±136~142±98 gram
Lower left in females: maximum to minimum : 340±112~113±73 gram

3) The contact point forces between the lateral incisor and canine:
Upper right in males: maximum to minimum: 397±127~170±78 gram
Upper left in males: maximum to minimum: 425±283~113±72 gram
Lower right in males: maximum to minimum: 425±170~142±84 gram
Lower left in males: maximum to minimum: 454±170~142±94 gram
Upper right in females: maximum to minimum: 369±136~56±32 gram
Upper left in females: maximum to minimum: 340±128~113±107 gram
Lower right in females: maximum to minimum: 312±114~170±106 gram
Lower left in females: maximum to minimum: 397±131~113±91 gram

Lower right in females: maximum to minimum: 567±130~227±110 gram

Lower left in males: maximum to minimum: 1,077±143~397±121 gram

Lower right in females: maximum to minimum: 1,021±156~482±126 gram
