Abstract

Part I : The author studied at the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, College of Medicine, Pusan National University, 205 cases of erosio portionis through clinico-cyto-histological analysis and obtained the conclusion as follows:
1. Erosio portionis was found most in the range of age, 26-30(26.83 per cent).
2. 41. 95 per cent of 205 cases complained of leukorrhca and 82. 41 per cent of the complainers had crosio portions.
3. The majority of the cases were multiparas, 95.62 per cent of all cases.
4. Disparity was shown in 9. 87 per cent of 205 cases between clinical and cytological diagnoses.
5. The cytological diagnostic study revealed 26.26 per cent of 205 cases to be suspicious or positive of cancer.
6. 75. 00 per cent of those cases that were cytologically suspicious and positive of cancer matched with the result of the histological study, and others were found as dysplasia.
7. Cytologically, the form of cells in dysplasia was polyhedral or oval and in carcinoma in situ round. Irregular cells appeared in advanced carcinoma.
8. Nuclear chromatin of the, cells in dysplasia was finely granular, in carcinoma in situ coarsely granular and invasive carcinoma commonly opaque rather than coarsely granular.
Part II : The author confirmed 178 cases of eroded lesions of the uterine cervix by cyto-histological procedures among 1365 patients who consulted at the outpatients´ clinic of the Department of Ob. & Gy. of Pusan National University Hospital during the period from Jan. 1, 1960 to Jan. 31, 1961, and classifying them into 6 groups according to clinical diagnoses, reached the following conclusion.
1. A group: Erosion of uterine portio 96 cases,
B group: Group in pregnancy 17 cases.
C group: Group with other Ob. & Gy. cases 19 cases.
D grouo: Doubtful cancer of cervix and portio 13 cases
E group: Definite diagnosis of cancer of cervix and portio 33 cases.
F group: Normal uterine cervix and portio 14 cases,
2. In parity, the cases with 5 or more times´ experiences of pregnancy accounted for 52. 25 cent, primiparas, 3. 93 per cent.
3. In abortion, of the cases of erosio partionis those with one or more times´ experiences of spontaneous abortion accounted for 35. 42 per cent, and those with. experiences of artificial abortion, 45. 83 per cent.
4. In terms of patients´ chief complaints, genital bleeding accounted for 9. 85 per cent, leukorrhea, 32. 58 per cent, and of the patients whose cases were diagnosed as positive cancer, complaints of genital bleeding accounted for 60. 87 per cent, and Ieukorrhea, 28. 26. per cent.
5. In cytological diagnoses, of 178 cases, 127 were shown negative, 23 doubtful, and 28 positive.
6. In tissue diagnoses 10 cases were found of erosio vera, 94 of erosio glandularis, 14 of abnormal epithelia, 5 of hyperactive epithelia, 7 of atypical epithelia, 41 of cancer and 7 of others.
7. In a comparative study of cytological and histological diagnoses, both diagnoses were agreed in 85.20 per cent, 2. 33 per cent of the noncancer patients were shown false negative, and 27. 27 per cent of the cancer patients, false positive.
