Abstract

Geon D 11 A latex molding specimens of renal arteries and collecting systems manufactured from 62 normal Korean adult kidneys were studied. The main renal artery was divided into anterior and posterior divisions, the line of nephrotomy into type I , 1( , I , IV, V and VI on the basis of borderline of renal segments supplied by anterior and posterior segmental arteries, anterior segmental arteries being subdivided into group I , 1, 1 and IV on the basis of distribution form, and posterior segmental arteries into type P,, L,, U1 and T on the basis of the origin from the main renal artery, in addition renal collecting systems into group A, B, C, D and E on the basis of pelvis and calyceal forms. The incidence of each line of nephrotomy, group of segmental arteries and collecting systems were studied and through comparative observation of the interrelation between line of nephrotomy and renal segmental artery distribution, the interrelation between line of nephrotomy and shape of renal collecting system, the following results were obtained.
1. The line of nephrotomy was subdivided into type I (33.9%), type 1 (22.6%), type IV (19.4%), type 1(11.3%), type V (9.7%) and type VI(3. 2%) in the order. The anterior segmertal arteries were subdivided into group I (54.8%), group lI (30.6%), group 1(11.3%) and group IV(3. 2 0) in the order. The posterior segmental arteries were subdivided into type P, (53.2%), type L,C21.0%), type T (16. 1%) and type U, (9.7/00/) in the order. The renal collecting systems were subdivided into group B (35. 5%), group C (32. 3%), group A (25. 8%), group D (12%) and group E (3.2%) in the order.
2. The interrelation between line of nephrotomy and anterior segmental arteries noted that type j was mainly composed of group I (57. 1%) and group I (33. 3%), type I of group I (42.9%) and group II (28. 60), type I of group j (57. 1 %) and group I (42.9%), one third of type IV of group j , two thirds of type V of group I and all of type VI of group 1, respectively.
3. The interrelation between line of nephrotomy and posterior segmental arteries noted that type I
was mainly composed of type P1 (.52.4,%) and type L, (23.3¡Æx), type II of type P, (57. 1%) and type T (31.4,¡Æ¢¥), type I of type P, (4? 9%), type L, (28. 6and type T (¢¥-IX. 6/17,00, one halt of type /y¢¥ of type P,, two thirds of type i of type P,, and each half of type 1-j of type Pl and type T, respectively.
4. The interrelation between line of nephrotomy and renal collecting systems noted that one third of type I was composed of group B, type I of group B (35.7%) and group C (35.7%), one half of type I of group C, one half of type lY of group B, one half of type y of group C, and all of type V[ of group C, respectively.
Through the investigation of the interrelation between line of nephrotomy and renal segmental artery distribution, the interrelation between line of nephrotomy and shape of renal collecting system, it would be helpful in the determination of the incision site of renal parenchyma, which is practically available.
