Abstract
The rapid and accurate evaluation of the knee joint is very important, because the derangement of the knee brings plenty of difficulty in the usual life.
We have p3rformed the arthrography in 42 cases with the derangement of knee joints at Busan National University Hospital during the period from May 1976 to February 1977.
In the 14 cases of them the arthrographic finding was clinically analysed with the background of definite diagnosis confirmed by operation.
The results were obtained as follows.
1. All of the 14 cases had lateral meniscus lesions, i. e, the discoid meniscus rupture in one case, and lateral meniscus ruptures in 13 cases.
2. The sex distribution of total cases was 11 cases in male and 3 cases in female, i. e, the sex ratio 11: 03(M: F).
3. The most frequent age group was the 2nd decade, 10 cases(71.4%).
4. The positive history of trauma was in 8 cases(57. 1%), and none in 6 cases(42.9%).
5. One case of the discoid meniscus rupture was found only at operation, but was not demonstrated on arthrography.
6. In 13 cases of the lateral meniscus ruptures, the arthrogram showed leakage of contrast media in all cases within the wedge shaped filling defect, so the arthrogram seemed very helpful to evaluate the derangement of the knee.
