Abstract
An Actinomycetes isolated from soil, which produced a piscicidal substance against various kinds of fresh water fishes, identified with Streptomyces umbrosus. The taxonomic relationships on the physiological properties and morphological characteristics of the genera in the Streptomyceteceae; aerial mass color, melanoid pigment production, reverse side pigment, presence of soluble pigment, spore chain morphology, structure of spore surface and utilization of carbon sources, are presented.
