Abstract

Twenty-five cases of epidemic encephalitis were observed in 1960. in Korea. The observation on the relationship between prognosis and clinical manifestations of the epidemic encephalitis revealed as follows.
1. The average mortality rate was 60% and it was higher in young age group.
2. Most of the cases which developed severe meningeal signs, unconsciousness and convulsion showed unfavorable prognosis.
3. Increased total protein content in the spinal fluid was a unfavorable prognostic sign.
