Abstract

The National Medical Center is a general hospital, and is located in the east part of Seoul, from where emergency cases are admitted to the Emergency Clinic. One first year resident examines these patients first, and then calls a staff doctor from the appropriate department for further evaluation and management. The author reviewed the records in children inder 15 years of age during the 3-year period from March, 1963 to Febuary, 1966. Return visits were not included.

The most frequent types of convulsions were " acute febrile and others were associated with tuberculous meningitis, idiopathic epilepsy, intracrancial infections(except tuberculous meningitis) and tetanus.

Most of the convulsions in age between 3 to 14 years were due to idiopathic epilepsy, tuberculous meningitis and intracranial infections.
The hogh frequency in tuberculous meningitis and tetanus neonatorum was emphasized.
3) The rectal temperature was 39-40℃ during or just after acute febrile convulsions in 40 per cent of the subjects. The pyrexia was most frequently due to acute pharyngo-tonsillitis or bronchopneumonia.
