Abstract


Mantoux (1 tuberculin unit PPD) and patch (10t-u. PPD) tests were performed at the same time in 311 of BOG-vaccinated children under 7 years age group. 19 of them were multiple BOG-vaccinated orphans. Results of tests were analized and reactivities of each age group w ere compared to that of natural infection. Brief review of world Iiteratures was involved in this article.
1) Positive rate of patch test peaked at 3 months after BOG vaccination. Thereafter it was gradually decreased to 76.5% at 3 years, and then was rapidly dropped to below 50% in 4´7 years. In multiple vaccinated group positive rate showed 83.3%.
2) Positive rate of Mantoux test was generally low in all age groups, but positive rate of multiple BOG-vaccinated group was relatively high (63.2%) while those of Mantoux test were very low in all age groups (39.$% in 3 months, 38.0% in 18 months, 39.5% in 2 years, 24.3% in 3 years, and 26.3% in 4´´e´7 years).
3) Intermediate form of P.P.D. preparation(10 t. u.) was recommended for BCG-vaccinated children,
4) Strong reaction such as double redness, purplish discoloration, vesicle and crust formation, and necrosis were appeared very frequently in natural infection group (45.1%) which was 10 times as high as that of BCG-vaccinated group (4.5%)?
5) Mean diameters of induration calculated as 8.3 mm. (+2.37 mm.) in 3 months, 10.7 mm. (=4.39 mm.) in 18 months, 14.3 mm. (-x6.71 mm.) in 2 years, 11. 9 mm. (+3.94 mm) in 3 years and 13.5 mm. (+2.12 mm.) in 4^´7 years. These results were significantly low as compared to 16.5 mm. (-3. 99 mm,) in natural infection group except the value of 2 years. On statistical analysis these comparison were very significant in all age groups except 2 years group (t-values were less than 5%). In 2 years group strong reaction appeared 4 among 15 positive cases which chiefly influenced high reactivity. If these 4 babies supposed to receive natural infection previously mean diameter of induration decreased from 14. 3 mm. (+6. 71 mm.) to II. 2 mm. (+2.88 mm), which was also signicant statistically.
