Abstract

The interest in Students mental health problems is notably increasing recently. The author applied the depression scale to 123 high school students (62 boy and 61 girl students). Evaluating the practical usefulness of this depression scale, the following results were obtained.
1. Among 25 students with a score higher than 1& 9 students showed mild problem symptoms and 16 students showed severe degree of problem sym¡©ptoms. The result coincided with the clinically evaluated findings in these students.
2. It is the author¢¥s opinion that this depression scale is an useful aid in finding out the students with depression even by non specialist and con¡©sequently it may be helpful for the student¢¥s mental health, if this scale used properly.
3. To investigate a factor which might have caused the gradual increase of average score from the beginning to the end of semester, the further intensive study is desired.
