Abstract

1) An Observation of the sensitivity results of 198 bacterial strains isolated from ii 137 cases which were admitted to the Dept. of Orthopedic Surgery of Seoul National University i Hospital during the past 5 years and 10 months from Feb. 1957 to Dec. 1962 were carried out. For the purpose to observe the increasing rate of. antibacterial resistant strains, these cases were divided into 2 groups- by the time, laboratory examination was performed.
2) Mixed infections were about 40% of 137 cases and lesser in the later group.
3) The most frequently isolated micro-organisms were Staphylococci and the highly sensitive antibiotics were Kanamycin (96%), Sigmamycin (96%) and Erythromycin (95%). The order in sensitive to other antibiotics were Aureomycin,.,Chloramphenicol, Terramycin, Streptomycip and Penicillin, (5%).
4) Streptococci were apparently sensitive to the all kinds of antibiotics.
Pseudomonas, in general, were very resistant to all the antibiotics but relatively sensitive antibiotics were Chloamphenicol, Tetracycline, and Aureomycin.
Proteus, . E. Coii, and Paracolon were commonly sensitive to Kanamycin in high percentage and next to Chioramphenicol.
5) Micro-organisms which were increasing in Number of resistant, as years goes by, were Staphylococci.
