Abstract

There is a report of a case of primary Kaposi´s sarcoma of the cecum treated surgically, in 20 year old man.

Kaposi´s sarcoma usually develops arising from skin of the lower extremity, after which it spreads to other organs in entire body. At surgery a shallow ulcerating lesion measuring 1.5×1.2cm. in size was noted in the posterior wall of the cecum which had invaginated into the ascending colon with formation of an intussusceptions.
The intussusceptum was easily reduced by manual reduction.
Teh ulcerating lesion of the cecum was resected and ileo-ascending colostomy carried out. The specimen revealed Kaposi´s sarcoma.
The pahtient has recovered completely and has been living well for 3 months since surgery.
