Abstract

The factors contributing to the anastomotic failure in Surgical intervention for solo-rectal
problems were analyzed and the following results were obtained.
The material in this report was based on 852 cases which were treated and diagnosed as colorectal disease in Department of General Surgery B.N.U.H. during 17 years from 1957 to 1973.
1. Disruption of Suture line was 8.0¡Æo in all colo-rectal surgery.
2. The most contributing factor in this study was anemia with blood loss during operation
(20. 0%).
3. The disruption of suture line requiring the reoperation was 66.2%.
4. Infection, emergency operation and lower blood pressure contributed more to development of disruption of suture line than no¢¥ infection elective operation and normal blood pressure.
