Abstract


1. In isolated hypogastric nerve-vas deferens preparation of rabbit, effects of various drugs on thee contractile response of the vas to the hypogastric nerve stimulation and transmural stimulation were investigated.
2, Acetylcholine, pilocarpine, and physostigmine potentiated the response to the nerve stimulation and transmural stimulation.
3. AHR-602 and McN-A-343 potentiated the response to both forms of stimulation at low frequency (12 cps). The response to stimulation at high frequency (50 cps) showed reduction after transient augmentation.
4. Chlorisondamine, atropine, and regitine reduced the response to both forms of stimulation.
5. Hemicholinium blocked the response to the nerve stimulation and did scarecely-affect that to transmural stimulation.
6. Atropine prevented the potentiation of the response by physostigmine and pilocarpine, but chlorisondamine and regitine had no effect on the potentiation.
7. The potentiation of the response by AHR-602 was prevented by atropine and was markedly reduced by regitine.
8.Above data indicate that the vas deferens of the rabbit receives separate innervation of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve.
9. It seems that atropine acts not only on muscarinic receptor in periphery, but also on the sympathetic ganglia.
