Abstract
A patient with liver cirrhosis who received triameterene and furosemide treatment for 4 weeks developed a megaloblastosis.
I reviewed literatures concerning in vitro action of the triamterene as a folic acid antagonist and concluded that the triamterene therapy for ascites precipitated possibly the megaloblastosis by inhibiting the utilization of the folic acid in the presence of stores of folic acid.
