Abstract


Seventy rabbits were subjected to investigate acetate-i-C14 metabobsm in injured liver tissue. Animals were devided into 4 groups as follows.

After sacrificing animal intact liver tissue was taken out and homogenized with incubation medium(after Frantz49)) and incubated for 2 hours at 38°C.
After incubation CO₂ production rate, specific activity of respiratory CO₂ and incorporation rate of acctate-1-C^(14) into cholesterol and saponifiable fraction. In addition to above cholesterol in serum and liver tissue was determined by Zack method.
The result of this experiment could be concluded as follows,
1. Serum cholesterol level of liver injured rabbit was remarkably elevated. The order of increase was resection >resection and transplantation >ligation, and 5 days >2 days. Maximum value was 196mg% of 4b-group(33. 1% of control serum)
2. CO₂ production rate and specific activity of respiratory CO₂of injured liver were increased and showed same tendency in 1.
The maximum values were 73. 4aM/hour/gm(167. 2% of control) and 35750cpm/ mgC(230. 7% of control) in group 4b.
3. The content of cholesterol and incorporation rate of acetate-C14 into cholesterol of injured liver tissue were also increased and the order of increase was just same as in 1 and 2. The maximum values were 7. lmg%(122.4% of control) and 9. 24cpm/mg of cholesterol(127. 5% control) in group-4b.
4. The amount of saponifiable fraction and incorporation rate of acetate-i-C14 into this fraction were, in contrast to above 1, 2 and 3, decreased remarkably by liver injury. But the order of decrease was same as the others. The minimum values were 14. 1mg/gm of liver(48. 6% of control) and 8. 6 cpm/mg(68. 8% of control)
