Abstract


Experiemental studies on the influence of acidosis and alkalosis upon allergic changes in the ovaries of white rabbits were undertaken.
The rabbits employed in these experiments were devided into three groups; normal group, acidosis group, and alkalosis group.
In the first group, the rabbits were fed with ordinary food. In the second group, for producing acidosis, 5gm. of white sugar per Kg. of body weight was given. In the third group, for the purpose of producing alkalosis 0.lgm. of Calcium :hloride per Kg. of body weight was added.
For the determination of acidosis and alkalosis the CO₂combining power of the blood plasma was meas. ured by Van Slyke´s method.
lc.c of horse serum per Kg. of body weight was injected into the subcutaneous tissue of the abdominal wall 4 times every other day for sensitizing.
The reinjection was made into the parenchyma of the left ovary with 0.1c.c of horse serum per Kg. of body weight 2 weeks after the sensitization.
After the reinjection, the ovary was removed at intervals of 3 hrs., 6 hrs., 12 hrs., 24 hrs., 48 hrs.,
72hrs., 1 and 2 weeks, and examined grossly and microscopically.
For the prupose of microscopical examination, they were fixed in formalin solution, absolute alcohol and stained with Haematoxylin-Eosin, Van Gieson´s and Sudan III.
The results of above experiments in these three groups were as following:
In the first group: the CO2 combining power of the blood plasma was on the general level of 44?61 Vol % by Van Slyke´s.
