Abstract

1. In order to contribute to the diagnosis of the hyperthyroidism the frequently occuring clinical manifestations were evaluated.
2. The ratio of predominance in females was 7: 1 and 82.3% of fifty-one cases of hyperthyroidism of our whole series were distributed between twenty-one and fourty years of age.
3. The symptoms which occur most frequently (above 90%) were fatigability, nervousness and palpitation. The patients who complain of these symptoms should be carefully examined on their goiter and thyroid function. Loss of body weight is nom` contributable to the diagnosis of this disorder as it is found only in 761C of cases.
4. Physical findings: Goiter was absent in 5% of cases. All patients with unexplained tachycardia, auricular fibrillation or arhythmia should be examined carefully for underlying thyrotoxicosis. It :hould be remembered that systolic murmur at the apex could be heard due to increased blood stream. Exophthalmos is not a cardinal sign in Grave´s disease as it is found merely in 20% of cases.
