Abstract


The purpose of this study is to determine the penetration of the isotope solution between the veneering resins and the gold crowns.
The autoradiographs are representative of the results obtained at the various time intervals with each of the materials. The results are as follows;
1. Isotope infiltration is evidenced in the autoradiograph by a dark line which indicates the penetration of the ion between the veneering resin and the underlying gold alloy.
2. Replica and Tooth-Acrylic, cold cured resins, exhibited gross infiltration after only one week of immersion in the isotope solution, while Acrylic Resin, the water cured, demonstrated no penetration and little infiltration was revealed in Ena-Resin, the cold cured.
3.. After 3 week´s exposure to the isotope, Ena-Resin, Tooth- Acrylic and Replica evidenced small increase in leakage, and Acrylic Resin revealed thin lines of isotope infiltration.
4. The autoradiographs prepared from specimens of these materials which remained in the radio active solution for a total of 8 weeks, evidenced only a small increase in penetration in each of the brands.
5. Acrylic Resin, in comparison with other resins, appeared the least infiltration, and tooth acrylic and Replica demonstrated the greatest penetration than any other materials.
