Abstract


tigin of plasma cells and lymphocytes are investigated by many workers but still there are many roversial opinions.
any workers of our department had studied this problem and tried several approaches to the origine of na´ cells other than immune reaction. Infusion of cortisone, desoxycorticosterone and adrenalectomy are new methods which our department had devised for this purpose. And our workers had confirmed the lopment of plasma cells from reticulum cells in lymphoid tissue of rat.
e_present author, has carried out the experiment to clarify the origin and biological difference of plasma d lymphocytes.
colloidal gold-198 is selectively localized in the retculoendothelial system and its radioactive effect is in only limited area, colloidal gold498 was injected into rats and the behavior of lymphocytes and `cells in the spleen to the localized irradiation was examined.
Ys ,are as follows.

Tiomogenate of spleen were made 24 hr. after the injection of colloidal gold-198 and their radioactivity -peasured by Well-type Scientillation Counter. It was 6,791 cpm per 100 mg of spleen homogenate-by tion of 12.5 pc Au-198, and 410,298 cpm by 500 fic.
Plasma cells are decreased in number from the 1st day, and at 3-4 th day they are increased, but there-began to decrease again. Lymphocytes are almost entirely disappeared in the red pulp starting as ,_as 1st day after the injection of colloidal gold-198.

i; White pulp exhibits slight atrophy but it begins to recover from 4th day and simultaneously the number ~ pihocytes in the red pulp is increased. The mild effect of radiation on the white pulp is due to their
tion of colloidal gold-198 which is phagocytosed by reticuloendothelial system of red pulp.

Kit can not be observed that the lymphocytes may directly transform into plasma cells after regressive
cells are proliferated from the 1st day, and gradually undergone degenerative changes from
