Abstract


The cytoarehitectures in the cortex of the superior parietal lobule (Brodmann´s Area 7) of the 183 brains (96 of male and 87 of female) from the various age groups of the Korean have been studied.
1. Of, the cortical thickness the average value from the age group of 0-1 year old was about 90.7 per cent of that of the 4dult. The highest value was found at that of the 40-50 years old, and was corresponded to that of the 1100-1200 gms of the brain weight. The mean values of the adult were 2.15 mm in male and 2.14 mm in female.
2. Of the neuron density the highest value found at the age group of 0-1 year old was rapidly decreased until that of 2-5 years old, and was gradually declined by that of the 40-50 years old thereafter. The latter value was ´she lowest in the present series, was corresponded to that of the 1100-1200 gms in the weight series, and was not influenced by the increase of the weight. The average values of the adult were 512.0 in male and 512.8 in female.
3. Of the glia density the lowest value found at the age group of 11-15 years old was corresponded to that of the 900-1100 gms of the ,weight series, and was gradually increased with the age and weight. The highest value was observed at the group of 40-50 years old in age series. In the weight series, however, the increment of the value was followed by that of the brain weight. The mean values of the adult were 737.4 in male and 739.1 in female.
4. Of the cell density(a sum of the neuron and glia densities) the lowest value found at the age group of 2. -5 years old in age series was corresponded to that of the 900-1100 gms in weight series. In the age series the lowest value was shown a tendendy of the increase in its value, however, in the weight series it was not influenced by the increase of the weight.
5. None of the sexual and right-left differences was found under a statistical support.
