Abstract


This experiment was planned to see whether environmental temperature has any influence upon the stress mechanism in rats.
Dividing 420 male aldino rats, whose body weight ranged from 150 to 200 gram, into ´control group(which breeded under the environment of optimal condition) and experimental group exposed to cold or heat environment (-10±2°C, 0±2°C;" 10±2°C and 35±2°C), experiments was carried out as follows:
For 10 consecutive days the control group and the experimental group breeded with wheat under normal environmental temperature. On the 10th day after beginning of wheaten breeding, the left adrenal ascordic acid content of all rats were measured. On the 4 th day after measuring of the left adrenal ascordic acid content, experimental group exposed to each ambiental temperature for 1, 3 or 5 hrs. every day, for 3 consecutive days,´ respectively. Right adrenalectomy was performed without delay after final exposure for 1, 3 or 5 hrs. under each temperature, and it was performed at once and at 1, 3or 6 hrs. accomplishing final exposure for 1 hr. under each temperature. Adrenal ascordic acid content served as an indicator of reaction to stress. The ascorcic acid was measured collorimetrically with Toyo densitometer utilizing the reduction 2.6-dichiorophenol-indophenol-sodium. Results obtained were as follows:
1) The adrenal ascordic acid content of the experimental group which exposed to cold or heat environment decreased significantly over that of the control group under the environmental temperature, 20±2°C.
2) The velosity which decreased a adrenal ascorbic acid content of rats exposure under cold or heat temperature is order of -10°C group>0°C group>10°C group>35°C group, but, on the counter phenomena, the recovery rate-of it is in order of 10°C group>0°C group>10°C group>35°C group. It may be inferred from the above experimental data that the rate on the decrease or recovery of adrenal ascorbic acid content in rats which exposured to cold or hot ambient was shown a delay or acceleration along.
