Abstract


This Study attempted to investigate the relationship between the glomerular filtration rate and metabolism of electrolytes (Na, K, CI), nitrogen, and phosphorus in toxemia. Sodium and potassium were measured with Baird flame-photometer with Model KY and the chloride with the Buchler-Cotlove chloridometer. Nitrogen was measured by Kjeldahl method and phosphorus by Fiske and Subarrow´s method. The same sample materials as the previous paper were utilized.
All analysis were performed in duplication. The results were as follows;
1. Proportional diminution of sodium and chloride excretion is observed according to severity of toxemia, but no such relationship is noted with potassium excretion.
2. Degree of diminution of nitrogen and phosphorus excretion correlates well to severity of toxemia.
3. There is a close relationship between dropping of glomerular filtration rate and diminution of sodium and chloride excretion in toxemia.
4. In toxemia, diminution of nitrogen and phosphorus excretion seems to be caused by decline of glomerular filtration rate.
