Abstract


The influence of methanol extract of Xanthii Fructus on serum lipid metabolism of rabbit is studied in this paper.
The 20 rabbits are divided into the Test and Control Groups. And after 3 days fasting, the Test Group is fed with the stock diet and the extract powder of Xanthii Fructus diluted with lactose. The Control Group is fed with the stock diet and lactose for 6 days. The serum contents of total-cholesterol, triglycerides, and phospholipids are determined before fasting, after fasting, after 3 and 6 days feeding dun g the experimental period. Only due to the 3 days fasting, the serum contents of total-cholesterol and triglycerides are increased while the content of phospholipids is decreased. The serum contents of total-cholesterol and triglycerides are recovered to the normal values more rapidly at the Test Group compared with at the Control Group. The phospholipids content is likely increased at the both Groups. However the .Fate of increase at the Test Group is slightly higher than that at the Control Group being not recovered to the normal value for 6 days feeding at the both Groups. According to the above results, it would be concluded that the extract of the Xanthii Fructus influences for the recovery of abnormal metabolism of lipids to the normal on rabbit
