Abstract

Positive g tolerance of various animals was compared in the room temperature. G-time tolerance curves of various animals were formed and formulas expressing g-tolerance were constructed.
Under the same restraining method of each animal the relation of the magnitude of g to the time t exposed at 50 per cent survival lines are:
Rats g = 24.9508/t-0.5755+10.194
Mice g = 24.4804/t+20.4135
Rabbits g = 21.0767/t-0.929+5.2821
Cocks g = 22.0234/t+11.231
Uroloncha g = 21.6654/t+27.2713
Swallows g = 44.208/t-0.564+29.358
Pigeons g = 28.6593/t+15.8906
The tolerance ratios of various animal species to swallows are: Swallows 100, Sparrows 88.8, Uroloncha 57.2
Mice 48.8, Pigeons 42.9, Rabbits 40.3
Rats 32.8, Cocks 30.2
Blood pressure, ECG, body temperature, rebreathing tolerance and total circulating blood volume etc. of various animal species were compared. Body weight, brain weight, heart weight, length of stature and trunk, and distance of head to heart etc. and gross and microscopic findings of animals under positive g-stress were compared. The relation of growth to positive g tolerance was examined
The conclusion obtained from the results is as follows.
1. Under the prolonged positive g the tolerance of various animal Species at 50/ survival line is expressed with a formula:
g ? Blood pressure (mmHg)x 13.6x3/4/head-heart(mm)
2. The ratios of length of trunk and chest circumference to the stature are paralleled with
the positive g-tolerance at relative short duration less than 3 minutes.
3. body weight, stature, length of trunk, chest circumference and distance of head to heart
are inversely paralleled with positive g tolerance.
4. There is no significant relation between the growth of animals and the positive g tolerance except infant animals having the tendency to high tolerance.
